Brian Powell invented the NuStroke™ engine and founded Powell Engine Company, incorporated in 1999.

He began his career as a graduate Mechanical Engineer working with Australia's largest company, BHP (Iron & Steel producer), as a Senior Combustion Engineer and went on to lecture in engineering specialising in engine design.

Brian invested a large part of his life in developing the NuStroke™ engine, and was constantly amazed by the performance of the technology.

Brian conceived the mechanism - an elegantly simplified method of converting reciprocating motion into rotary motion with complete control over piston motion. Since then, the process has been one of constant new discoveries and advantages of this unique technology. Many of the achievements of the technology - low emissions, higher compression ratios, multiple fuels etc. - have been unintended consequences of the simplification process.

Sadly, Brian Powell passed away in July, 2006 at the age of 68. Brian suffered increasing muscle weakness for six months and died from what was described as an atypical form of Motor Neuron Disease. He is greatly missed - his legacy lives on.
